About

EHR Scope is a publication providing extensive information on the EHR / EMR field.  EHR Scope is also a self-service website which allows physicians to sort through the hundreds of EMR (Electronic Medical Record) AKA EHR (Electronic Health Record) software programs, helping them find the right one for their particular environment.  EHR Scope is a division of EMRConsultant.com, which is part of 1450, Inc.

EMRConsultant.com is a service, free to physicians and other health care providers, that educates healthcare professionals and organizations about the vast array of EMR products on the market and then matches the professional or organization with the EMR system that we feel is best suited to their practice needs.  EMRConsultant.com is the parent company of EHR Scope.

There are hundreds of EMR products currently available, and the number is growing. In February 2004 President Bush essentially mandated that all medical offices and hospitals use an EMR to keep patient records within the next ten years. However, many health care providers lack the technical expertise and the time needed to fully evaluate even a small sample of the EMR products on the market.

EMRConsultant.com reports on an EMR based upon the EHR’s core functional capabilities with respect to patient health information and data, test and lab results management, order entry (especially Rx), decision support, electronic communication and connectivity, patient support, administrative processes such as electronic scheduling and facilitation of reporting requirements.

In addition, EMRConsultant.com has a manufacturer-provided database of the EMR’s software components, user-friendliness, customization options, interoperability and integration with third party software, security standards, HIPAA compliance and smart features that assist in health care decision-support and health care delivery are assessed.

We also reference the functional requirements currently used and/or recommended by the Department of Health and Human Services, HIMMS, and HL-7.

Once an EMR product meets our minimum standards for viability, based on information provided by the manufacturer, we put the product into our system. EMRConsultant.com then utilizes a unique and proprietary software system that matches a health care provider’s practice profile and specifications with the top EMR products that best fulfill those criteria.

Many EMR products on the market today are inferior to the current state of the art. If we make that determination about an EMR product, it is eliminated from consideration and will not be recommended to a health care professional or organization. In the occasional instance where an EMR manufacturer declines to provide us with information about their EMR product, we similarly eliminate that EMR from consideration and do not recommend it to a health care professional or organization.

In some instances, we have a referral fee arrangement wherein we receive a fee from an EMR manufacturer and/or billing company, etc.,  Therefore, it is possible that we will be compensated by the manufacturer and/or vendor.

We are committed to providing the most objective information possible to our clients, and while we may be compensated in some instances, many of the recommendations we make are to companies with whom we have no formal arrangements. We are committed to matching the health care professional and organization with the EMR best suited for them and will do so in every instance, with or without compensation. In either instance our services are free to you.
